The inaugural Auckland Flower Show brought together florists, hobby flower arrangers, floristry schools, flower growers and professional floral associations in a united extravaganza of talent and creativity.

Competitions abounded and this is just a small glimpse of the feast of flowers at the show. The rest is available as your optional extra on this month's companion DVD, for details click here.

The florists' relay company, Interflora, took the opportunity to run their local area semifinals for the New Zealand World Cup representative and Franca Logan was the successful entrant.

Her exquisite bouquet, featured here, was part of 4 pieces she had to create, under the title, 'East meets West'.

One for the experts, Franca used carpentry glue to secure the top structure and ran a wire down from that to accommodate all the plant material.
