It is assumed you have decided to step up and own your own flower shop yet you need the best business mentors available to help you achieve this goal successfully.
MODULE 1: First things first: Are you fully trained as a florist? This module fills in any gaps you have in your technical knowledge after a pre-enrolment discussion with your tutor. You will be assigned lessons as streaming videos and practical tasks to address any issues you have. If you have too much missing knowledge Certificate 1 or 2 will be suggested as a prerequisite.
MODULE 2: Running a flower shop: You will hear an interview with an experienced and successful florist about locations and considerations for your flower shop, and read the first of your special flower business ebooks, '11 step formula for wedding floristry'. This information you will use as a resource to formulate and submit your own list of criteria for your future premises to discuss with your mentor.
MODULE 3: Marketing Your Flower Shop: The second specialist flower business ebook to read. This ebook and its headings will be the basis of your own business advertising and marketing plan. which you will submit to your mentor for discussion.
MODULE 4: Budgets and finance: You will be introduced to the basics of the financial side of any business, including costings, taxes, and your expectations. As these can vary from country to country, this is an introduction only to introduce you to the financial concepts behind any business.You will be asked to research this more specifically for your own area and produce a draft budget.
MODULE 5: Maximising your space: Most flower shops neglect many extra tiers of income and profit. This module introduces you to what other successful florists are doing with 7 floral design magazine business specials to gather ideas from. Your third specialist ebook, 'Photograph your floral design for profit' is included. You will be asked to add some of these ideas that would work for you, to your business plan started in module 3 and 4 and resubmit it.
MODULE 6: How to teach flower arranging: Two video interviews will lead you through the guidance you need to teach flower arranging successfully and how to run a flower arranging workshop so your clients keep coming back for more. This is an extension of module 5, and requires you to record yourself running a flower arranging lesson for 2-5 people to be discussed with your mentor.
MODULE 7: And then what?: A video interview "How to manage Multiple Shops and Staff' is your last piece of advice from a successful florist. Her advice will give you more ideas for your business plan. You will be asked to add them and submit your final plan for an exit discussion with your mentor before your certificate of completion is issued.
